Games in Education -- Symposium
July 23, 2007 -- WMHT-TV Troy, NY
SciCentr director Margaret Corbit presented an invited talk, Virtual Worlds in Education,
for educators in the NY State Capitol Region at a symposium hosted by the regional
public television station, WMHT, and sponsored by the Capitol Region game company
1st Playable Productions. This daylong program presented fresh perspectives on computer
games and related technologies from leaders in educational research and educational
game development, as well as seasoned K-12 educators.

CyberCiv -- Field Trips
June 4-5, 2007 -- Ithaca, NY
Sixth grade classes from Holy Family Intermediate and Broadway Middle School in
Elmira, NY visited Cornell for field trips that included campus tours, presentations
of their projects, and introductions to the Cornell CAVE stereo immersive environment.
These trips are part of the CyberCiv partnership funded through a NY State educational
technology grant.
Innovate 2007 -- Conference
May 8, 2007 -- Richmond, VA
The Cornell Theory Center's (CTC) outreach program, SciFair,
participated in the Virginia Department of Education's Office of
Educational Technology's Innovate 2007 conference. The conference
took place May 8, 2007 in Richmond and was Virginia's first
exposition devoted to new and emerging technologies for education.
Presenting in the SciFair booth were Mr. Stephen Beckett, enrichment
teacher at Albert Hill Middle School in Richmond and four of his
students. They demonstrated Hill06, a world celebrating the 400th
anniversary of the founding of the Jamestown Colony.
Cyberworlds for Education -- Showcase
December 14, 2006 -- New York, NY
CTC held a very special event sponsored by Microsoft that was focused on
generating new partnerships-a showcase of worlds created by and for
students and educators. The event took place on Thursday evening,
December 14 from 5 to 7 PM at Microsoft's briefing facility in
Manhattan. More than 60 people came to learn about opportunities to
participate in opening up the medium of virtual worlds to the realm of
K-12 education.

Ithaca Youth Bureau College Discovery Virtual World Camp -- Showcase
July 13, 2006 -- CTC
Twelve rising 7th graders presented the worlds they created in their second year as a Summer SciFair team. Their families and friends joined them to explore the worlds, enjoy pizza, and watch as they received their medals for completing the program.

Cornell Cooperative Extension 4H Career Explorations -- SciFair Workshop
June 27-29, 2006 -- CTC
Nine high school students learned to build virtual worlds about science and technology as part of their three day program on the Cornell Campus.

Aquatic Virtual World -- Online Tours
June 10, 2006 -- Museum of the Earth, Ithaca, NY
Visitors to the Museum of the Earth in Ithaca were treated to virtual tours of Aquatic world given inworld by Lincoln-Orens Middle School’s SciFair team. The team collaborated with Cornell researchers Charles Green and Andy Pershing in development of a world that features the conservation of endangered Right whales. The Museum, which is a public natural history exhibit facility for one of the nation's largest and finest fossil collections, features a Right whale skeleton in its main gallery.
Cornell Reunion -- Demonstration
June 9-10, 2006 -- Barton Hall, Cornell Campus
Alumni attending Cornell’s Reunion Weekend 2006 had the chance to log in and explore SciCentr and SciFair virtual worlds, including joining the tours of Aquatic world.
BOCES Class Visit -- Demonstration
June 2, 2006 -- CTC
GED Classes from TST BOCES visited CTC for tours of SciFair and SciCentr worlds and the chance to experience the CAVE stereo immersive environment.
