A hyper-portal in the Croquet environment; by passing through this portal, the user enters a Mars terrain simulation.
As the K-20 Outreach arm of Cornell’s hub for Cyberinfrastructure, SciCentr.org is always looking for new and exciting tools to use with our community.
We are actively exploring the use of Croquet, a new open source software platform for creating deeply collaborative multi-user online applications. It features a network architecture that supports communication, collaboration, resource sharing, and synchronous computation among multiple users. Using Croquet, software developers can create powerful and highly collaborative multi-user 2D and 3D applications and simulations, for math and science education. CTC is currently affiliated with the Croquet Consortium and the Croquet-on-Mars project led by Frank Wattenberg at the United States Military Academy at West Point and Frank Hughes of Tietronix, Inc.
