SciCentr museum content is divided among online Web-based exhibits and a universe of worlds in a multi-user game environment. These virtual worlds present educational science content and simulations in a fun and safe social setting where teachers and K-12 students work creatively, learning about current research and building on their familiarity with current information technologies. We welcome educators interested in using/visiting our exhibits. Our exhibits are created by teams of talented undergraduates and staff working with teachers to test and refine the content.

Our focus in SciFair is on supporting youth in explorations of science and in creation of their own contexts, knowledge spaces. SciFair teams are mentored by Cornell undergraduates inworld and coached by teachers onsite.

We also are working with teachers to integrate specific content into the classroom. For example, our GeneDome features a 3D interface for breeding virtual tomatoes based on Mendelian genetics appropriate for middle school life sciences and JumpGene covers much of the content on genetics at the high school level. Our Web-based PathogenTracker Game introduces players to a wide variety of careers and research tools in a forensic search for tainted hotdogs.
